I am reading Burawoy. What he is good at is comparing his industrial experiences at Allied plant and in Hungary (whats the name of that metal works plant he works at). I just read about his attempt to file a work grievance at a soviet-style trade union. He is good at journalist-like narration, but he should not try big generalizations and he should certainly leave class analysis alone. He should have just wrote ethnographic study rather than trying to do a "theory" book. It is however interesting to think about the inner workings of the soviet-style factory and an economy in general. ------ He concludes the book by saying that socialism is the future of all mankind. How quaint.
